Snowboard Lessons
Individual + Private Group // Half-day + Full-day // From $53/person
Snowboarding is one of those sports that gets into your blood. The surfy, playful feel of riding, the flow when you start linking turns, the whole world of terrain that opens up when you do: park, powder, side-hits, buttering, backcountry. Gudauri is one of the best places in the Caucasus to start that journey. Our English-speaking instructors are here to get you there fast, and to make the whole thing genuinely fun from day one.

Multi-day discount
We recommend at least four lessons to get real improvement out of your trip. Four sessions gives you enough time to build the fundamentals, feel the progression, and actually enjoy the mountain. The bigger leaps always happen when you have time to repeat and refine. That is why we offer a discount when you book four lessons or more.

Rule of thumb
Individual is the fastest path to real progress. The instructor is focused entirely on you, reads every run, and gives feedback the moment something needs adjusting. That kind of immediate attention is what moves your riding forward. If you are coming with friends or family who ride at the same level, Private Group keeps you together and cuts the per-person cost sharply.

Skill levels
One board, two edges, and a stance you have to figure out before anything else. The early progression is steep and the rewards are real. We have taught every level from first-time strapping in to pushing park and backcountry lines, and the better you ride, the more fun Gudauri gets.
First time strapping in. You learn how the board feels underfoot, how to control your heelside edge and your toeside edge before you point it anywhere serious. Then comes the moment those two edges connect into your first real linked turns. When it clicks, you feel it. We build at a pace that suits you, keep it fun, and by the end of the session you will understand why people come back for this every season.
You are linking turns and riding blues with confidence. This is where dynamic balance and precise edge control start to click. Your instructor works on riding switch, dialing in your carving on blue runs, and building the range to take on steeper pitches. Four sessions at this stage will move your riding further than a full season of solo laps.
You ride reds and blacks comfortably. Now you want to sharpen something specific: carving clean on steeper groomers, buttering and board presses, 180s and spins, grabs, freestyle and park technique, or powder and steeps off-piste. A full-day Individual lesson is five hours with an instructor who can take you to the next level. Ready to leave the groomed mountain? See our freeride lessons.
A typical day
48 hours before
Our support team creates a WhatsApp group with you and your instructor. Meeting point, weather update, gear questions, and any logistics for your group all live there. If you booked board rental at Aviator, we drop the reservation form in there too so your setup is waiting when you arrive.
Meeting up
You meet at the bottom of the gondola in New Gudauri, right by the big map. Your instructor will be there in Vagabond colors. The gondola ride up is where they get to know you: what you have ridden before, what you are hoping to get out of the day, whether anything has been tripping you up.
The lesson
A warm-up run to read your stance, balance, and how you are reading the slope, then the session locks in. Your instructor watches your body position across the fall line, where your weight sits, and how you are using the terrain. The plan adapts as you go: beginners work on building the flow of their first real turns, more experienced riders focus on carving cleaner or riding steeper. The instructor gives feedback on every run. Half-day is 2.5 hours. Full-day is 2.5 hours, a one-hour lunch break, then another 2.5 hours in the afternoon.
After
Your instructor sends a quick recap in the WhatsApp group: what you nailed, what to think about on your own laps, and what to focus on next session. If something clicked that day and you want to build on it tomorrow, you go in with a clear starting point. Tipping is appreciated and common. The customary range is 10 to 15%, paid in cash to the instructor at the end of the session.

Kids
We offer snowboard lessons for children from age 5. Beginners aged 5 to 7 are 1-on-1 only. The attention they need to stay safe and keep having fun on a board does not split well at that age. Kids 8 and over, or younger kids who can already ride independently, go up to 2 per instructor.
Kids take to snowboarding quickly when the pace is right. We keep it fun, celebrate the small wins, and make sure they leave wanting to come back. Most kids are linking turns within a few sessions.
We recommend booking a kids lesson and a separate adult lesson so everyone gets the most out of the day and progresses at their own rate.
For kids under 5, parents are the right first instructors. At that age, the best thing is a familiar face, easy terrain, and plenty of room to play. Keep the love of snow alive and the skill will follow.
One thing worth remembering: with young kids, it is much less about technique and much more about keeping it enjoyable. If they are grinning at the end of the day, that is a great lesson. That is how families end up snowboarding together for years.
Why ride with us
Snowboard instruction is different from ski instruction, and not everyone teaching at a resort actually rides. Every Vagabond snowboard instructor is a genuine rider, fluent in English, and focused on teaching people who are here to have fun, not just check a box. When something is off in your stance or your edge timing, they know how to say it in a way that makes sense on a board.
Sometimes a small correction to body position, stance angle, or timing is all it takes to make something click. When a coach watches you ride and spots it on the hill, you can sort out in a few runs what you spent days struggling with on your own.
We have been at Gudauri since 2017, over 200 five-star Google reviews, and a return rate above 60%. Riders come back. That says more than any marketing claim.
WhatsApp us before, during, or after your trip. Gear questions, conditions updates, where to find the freshest snow that day: we are here for all of it. Short reply times, no ticket queues, no front desk.

Equipment
We partner with Aviator Ski Rental in New Gudauri, 100 meters from the gondola, red and white sign you cannot miss. Vagabond clients get a discount and we send a reservation form before your trip so your board and boots are ready when you arrive. Walk in, get fitted, walk straight to the gondola.
Bring your own gloves, jacket, and pants if you can. The outerwear selection in Gudauri shops is limited, and personal-fit gear makes a real difference in comfort over a full day. Board, boots, and goggles are all fine to rent at Aviator.
Helmets are required for kids and strongly recommended for adults. Wrist guards are worth it on your first few days. Aviator carries both. Mention what you need in the WhatsApp group and we will flag it for the reservation.
