Entry rules
Entry rules and insurance
British citizens can visit Georgia visa-free for up to one year, and your passport needs to be valid for the length of your stay. The UK government's entry requirements for Georgia have the details.
Since January 1, 2026, every foreign visitor to Georgia needs health and accident insurance covering at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay, including the days you arrive and leave. A paper or PDF policy in English or Georgian is accepted, and only Georgian citizens and permit holders are exempt. Check that your policy covers skiing. The UK government's Georgia entry requirements set out the rule, and the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the official source for visa questions.
The road up
From the airport to Gudauri
From Tbilisi airport it is about two to two and a half hours by road to Gudauri, a little longer if a winter storm slows the highway.
In a short week every hour on snow counts, so keep the transfer simple. A Bolt taxi now goes door to door from Tbilisi to Gudauri, and a shared minivan (marshrutka) leaves from Didube bus station if you would rather go local. When to come
When to come from the UK
February half-term is Monday February 15 to Friday February 19, 2027 for most of England, right in the middle of the season. Other parts of the UK differ, so check your own school's dates.
Easter holidays run from late March into early April (March 26 to April 9 in the councils we checked). That falls later in the season, so check the resort's closing date first.
The season usually opens in late December, and the resort has not announced this season's opening date. Check mta.ski before you book flights. Our Gudauri guide covers the best weeks to ski.

Why ski with us
A half-term week goes quickly. Half-day lessons run 2.5 hours of on-snow time, 10:30 to 13:00 or 13:30 to 16:00, and a full day is 5 hours with a one-hour lunch break. We recommend the same instructor every day, because continuity is the biggest single factor in how much you progress over a trip. Tell us when you book and we'll lock them in if availability allows.
Every instructor teaches in English. Our rental partner, Aviator Ski Rental in New Gudauri, is about 100 meters from the gondola, so you can leave your own kit at home. More in our FAQ.
